Post-Antibiotic Gut Recovery Checklist
Antibiotics can be important and sometimes lifesaving, but they can also temporarily disrupt the gut microbiome and affect digestion, bowel habits, and food tolerance in some people.
After antibiotic use, symptoms such as bloating, constipation, diarrhea, gas, reflux, or changes in stool consistency may develop or worsen. These symptoms can have many possible causes, so they should not automatically be assumed to be caused by antibiotics alone.
This checklist is designed to help you organize changes you have noticed after antibiotic use, including digestive symptoms, bowel patterns, food reactions, medications, lifestyle factors, and questions to discuss with a healthcare provider or functional health practitioner.

My other questions:
When to Seek Medical Care
Digestive symptoms after antibiotic use should not automatically be assumed to be a normal recovery response. Speak with a medical provider if you experience persistent or worsening diarrhea, blood in the stool, black or tarry stools, unexplained weight loss, persistent fever, severe abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, or signs of dehydration.
Seek urgent medical care for severe abdominal pain, significant bleeding, fainting, severe dehydration, confusion, or other symptoms that feel sudden or concerning.
