Stress & Cortisol Support
Root-cause support for people who feel wired at night, exhausted during the day, and worn down by stress that never seems to let up. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, with virtual support available nationwide.
Stress is part of life. But when it goes on for months or years, it can start to show up in your body: poor sleep, cravings, belly weight, gut problems, low drive, and a tired feeling that coffee can't fix. Instead of telling you to just relax, we look at how stress may be affecting your body and what can help it recover.
Signs Long-Term Stress May Be Affecting Your Body
Stress and cortisol support may be worth exploring if you:
-
Feel tired but wired, especially at bedtime
-
Wake up exhausted or need caffeine to get going
-
Crash in the afternoon or crave sugar and salt
-
Gain weight around the middle despite eating well
-
Get sick often or feel like your body never fully recovers
-
Notice gut problems, low drive, or mood changes during stressful seasons
-
Feel on edge, short-tempered, or easily overwhelmed
What Cortisol Does
Cortisol is your body's main stress hormone, and you need it. It helps you wake up, keeps blood sugar steady, and helps you respond to challenges. Healthy cortisol is higher in the morning and lower at night. Long-term stress can change that pattern, which may leave you running on empty in the morning and wide awake at night.
What May Be Keeping Your Stress Response Switched On
Stress isn't only what's on your mind. Your body also responds to stress from the inside. These are some of the areas we look at together.
Poor Sleep
Short or broken sleep raises stress on the body, and stress makes sleep harder. Breaking that cycle is often one of the first steps.
Blood Sugar Swings
Skipping meals, running on caffeine, or eating mostly refined carbs can cause blood sugar dips that the body treats as stress, calling on cortisol to bring levels back up.
Gut Health and Inflammation
Ongoing gut problems and inflammation are a hidden source of stress on the body. Stress also affects digestion in return, so the gut and stress response often need support together.
Hormone and Thyroid Changes
Cortisol works closely with your other hormones. Long-term stress may affect progesterone, testosterone, and thyroid function, and hormone changes can make stress harder to handle.
How Stress and Cortisol Support Works at Executive Functional Healing
It starts with a free 15-minute discovery call to talk through your stress, sleep, energy, and health history. If we work together, we look at your daily rhythm, meals, sleep, gut health, and hormones to find what may be keeping your stress response switched on. When it adds real value, a DUTCH Plus test can show your cortisol pattern through the day, including how it responds when you first wake up. From there, you get a personalized plan with ongoing support.
When to Get Medical or Mental Health Support
Some symptoms need medical care, not coaching. See your healthcare provider if you have unexplained weight changes, very high blood pressure, muscle weakness, dizziness when standing, or symptoms that keep getting worse. If stress is turning into ongoing anxiety or depression, a licensed mental health professional can help, and coaching can work alongside that care. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as adrenal fatigue?
"Adrenal fatigue" is not a recognized medical diagnosis, but the symptoms people describe with it are real. Rather than using that label, we look at stress, sleep, blood sugar, and cortisol patterns to understand what may be going on.
How do I know if my cortisol is off?
Symptoms can give clues, but they overlap with many other issues. A DUTCH test can show your cortisol pattern across the day, which a single morning blood test may not capture. We'll talk about whether testing makes sense on your free call.
Can stress affect my gut?
Yes. Stress can change digestion, gut movement, and the gut lining. Many people notice their gut symptoms flare during stressful seasons.
Do cortisol supplements work?
Many products promise to lower cortisol. Some people find certain nutrients or herbs helpful, but the basics (sleep, steady meals, movement, and stress habits) usually matter most. Talk with your healthcare provider before starting any supplement, especially if you take medication.
Do you work with clients outside Texas?
Yes. Sessions are virtual, so you can work with Executive Functional Healing from anywhere in the U.S.
